Melancholia (2011) Movie Review

Lars Von Trier’s Melancholia, a meditation on depression and the end of the world, stars Kirsten Dunst as an emotionally troubled newlywed named Justine, whose sister Claire (Charlotte Gainsbourg) throws her a lavish wedding party. While her lack of emotional stability begins to take a toll on Justine’s new marriage as well as the party — and old wounds are exposed .

Claire’s wealthy husband John (Kiefer Sutherland) also knows a great deal about a planet that is on a possible collision course with Earth, further muddying the waters. The second half of the movie focuses on Claire, who ends up taking her sister in after the marriage collapses, and also begins to fear that John is hiding apocalyptically bad news. John Hurt and Charlotte Rampling co-star. Melancholia screened at the 2011 ~Toronto International Film Festival.

Pakistani Actress and director Reema Khan is getting marriage with Dr Taariq Shahab an American citizen. Dr Taariq studied in Dow Medical College University, Karachi and then went to USA. All family members and relatives are currently in USA. Mayon ceremony is held tomorrow and Mehndi on 17 November 2011. Rukhsati of reema khan will be on 18 November 2011. After marriage Reema will stay for some weeks in USA and then returns to Pakistan.

“Dr. Shahab graduated from Dow Medical College University of Karachi, Pakistan and then came to the United States for further training in cardiovascular diseases. He did his Internal Medicine residency training at the University of Michigan Medical Center. He was awarded the Outstanding Resident of the year Award at Michigan and was offered the position of Chief Medical Resident.” says the website related to Medical Associates of Reston, United States.

Bollywood again smoking ban “TV Stars”

Smoking is injurious to health, a phrase that can never be said enough and yet we have a plethora of people take up smoking every year. Well the government post banning smoking in public areas has now decided to apply stringent norms to smoking on screen as well.

According to the new norm starting November 14, 2011, no TV show or film will be allowed to feature any on screen tobacco product freely, unless it has strong requirement within the editorial and each of the concerned actors issues a 20 second spot condoning the act, while running spots before and mid way through the program about the hazards. Besides these, there will also have to be a strong anti-tobacco health warning as a prominent scroll at the bottom of the screen during the period of such smoking scene.

To ensure proper enforcement of the new norm the government has decided to place a representative of the health ministry in the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to monitor such scenes, while films with heavy use of tobacco products are likely to get “A” certificate.
