Combine apricots,walnuts,dates,raisins,sultanas,rind and grated dark chocolate in a small bowl.

Roll into small balls of mixture and put it into refrigerate overnight.

Dip each fruit ball in chocolate until evenly coated.

Place balls into grated coconut allow to set in a cool place.

Using the coarse blade, force fruits through a food chopper. Add the powdered sugar and orange juice; mix well and chill. Shape into 1″ balls, using powdered sugar on hands and rolling surface as needed. Roll the balls in colored sugars. Store with waxed paper between layers in a cool place in a tightly covered container.

How To Do a Row Exercise

Holding a barbell with a pronated grip (palms facing down), bend your knees slightly and bring your torso forward, by bending at the waist, while keeping the back straight until it is almost parallel to the floor. Tip: Make sure that you keep the head up. The barbell should hang directly in front of you as your arms hang perpendicular to the floor and your torso. This is your starting position.
Now, while keeping the torso stationary, breathe out and lift the barbell to you. Keep the elbows close to the body and only use the forearms to hold the weight. At the top contracted position, squeeze the back muscles and hold for a brief pause.
Then inhale and slowly lower the barbell back to the starting position.
Repeat for the recommended amount of repetitions.

Caution: This exercise is not recommended for people with back problems. A Low Pulley Row is a better choice for people with back issues.

Also, just like with the bent knee dead-lift, if you have a healthy back, ensure perfect form and never slouch the back forward as this can cause back injury.

Be cautious as well with the weight used; in case of doubt, use less weight rather than more.

Variations: You can perform the same exercise using a supinated (palms facing you) grip.

Despite Lindsay Lohan’s leaked Playboy photos and cancellation of herappearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” it seems the issue is doing quite well.

After early reports surfaced that the magazine, which hit newsstands last week, wasn’t selling so hot, TMZ reported that her retro-themed shoot is starting to sell out. Sources say retailers in cities like Los Angeles and New York have had to order more issues, and subscriptions to the Playboywebsite have increased since the issue became available.

The news seems to have pleased head honcho Hugh Hefner, who confirmed the report on Twitter. “The Lindsay Lohan January-February Double Issue is breaking sales records,” he wrote on Sunday.

Last week, Lohan took to Twitter and opened up about the nude pictorial she had done in the style of Marilyn Monroe’s classic spreads. “Playboy on stands now!” she said. “I was so nervous! I hope people like it and pick up a copy!!! ….xoxo.”

In the January/February issue, Lohan also talks about her ongoing problems. “Looking back, I probably would have listened to and taken more advice from the people whom I admire and would have followed through with it more,” she told the magazine. “My stubbornness at 18 and 19 years old got in the way. During the past five years, I’ve learned that time flies faster than you think, and because you only live once, you have to learn from your mistakes, live your dreams and be accountable.”

Blouses were rarely part

Blouses were rarely part of the fashionable woman’s wardrobe until the 1890s. Before that time, they were occasionally popular for informal wear in styles that echoed peasant or traditional clothing, such as the Garibaldi shirt of the 1860s.

During the later Victorian period, blouses became common for informal, practical wear. A simple blouse with a plain skirt was the standard dress for the newly expanded female (non-domestic) workforce of the 1890s, especially for those employed in office work. In the 1900s and 1910s, elaborate blouses, such as the “lingerie blouse” (so-called because they were heavily decorated with lace and embroidery in a style formerly restricted to underwear) and the “Gibson Girl blouse” with tucks and pleating, became immensely popular for daywear and even some informal evening wear. Since then, blouses have remained a wardrobe staple.

Blouses are often made of cotton or silk cloth and may or may not include a collar and sleeves. They are generally more tailored than simple knit tops, and may contain feminine details such as ruffles, a tie or a soft bow at the neck, or embroidered decorations.

A choli (lehnga in Urdu or ravika in Telugu)

A choli (lehnga in Urdu or ravika in Telugu) is a midriff-baring blouse worn in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and other countries where the sari is worn. The choli is cut to fit tightly to the body and has short sleeves and a low neck. The choli is usually cropped, allowing exposure of the navel; the cropped design is particularly well-suited for wear in the sultry South Asian summers. Cut-out backs and front-opening buttons are some of the features of contemporary designs.

Saris are often woven with an extra length of material meant to be cut off and fashioned into a matching choli. The choli may be sewn so that the elaborately woven borders of the sari material form the bottom edges of the choli sleeves. However, cholis need not match the sari. There is a growing trend towards stretchy, comfortable cholis made from knit materials.

The traditional choli was worn without a brassiere (invented as recently as the late 19th century), as is evident from the images in the Choli Art Gallery, below. However, many modern South Asian women wear a soft bra under the choli, for a firmer appearance of the bust. Expensive designer cholis are sewn with padding and reinforcements so that a bra is not needed and backless or off-the-shoulder cholis can be worn with ease.

Women of the Gujarat and Rajasthan countryside may also wear the choli with a gypsy skirt, or lehnga. Their cholis are often loosely fitted and heavily ornamented with embroidery and mirror work, or shisha embroidery.

When wearing a semi-transparent kameez, women usually wear a sleeveless choli as an undergarment similar to a camisole or a bustier.

Office dress codes usually prohibit cropped, sleeveless cholis; similarly, women in the armed forces, when wearing a sari uniform, don a half-sleeve shirt tucked in at the waist.

Some Western women have started wearing the choli as part of their belly dance costume. They typically wear backless cholis (held together with strings) so that the audience can see a dancer’s bare back as she sways.

Backless cholis have become a fashion in India after the movie Hum Aapke Hain Koun…!, in which Madhuri Dixit wears one.

A lehenga is a skirt worn with a choli, also called a gypsy skirt or gopi skirt. While women of the Gujarat and Rajasthan provinces of India usually represent the outfit for foreigners, the lehenga is native to several other parts of India too. Depending on which part of India one is referring to, the lehenga is worn in different styles, made of different fabrics and includes unique patterns. The lehenga of Rajasthan and Gujarat is known for its bandhni work which is a technique in tie-dye mastered by Hindu women of the region. In the Southern states of India, the lehenga skirt is not as voluminous and is worn without a chunni/chunri but with a kurti that covers the midriff. The lehenga worn in the Northern states of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarkhand has a voluminous skirt and kurti/choli that covers midriff with a long chunni.

Sweet Gajar Ka Halwa

Carrot Halwa (Gajar Halwa) is a very popular North Indian sweet dish. Here is carrot halwa recipe.

Ingredients:

Carrots – 6 (grated finely)
Milk – 3 cups
Sugar – 1 cup
Mawa – 1/2 cup (powdered milk)
Khoya – 3 tsp (ricotta cheese)
Almonds – 1/8 cup (chopped)
Cardamoms – 5 (skinned and crushed fine)
Pistachios – 2-3 (powdered)
Ghee – 1/4 cup (clarified butter)
Raisins – 1 tsp

Method:

Boil the carrots in the milk in an open pan maintaining a low flame. Constantly stir.
When carrots are cooked, take them out and drain any excess milk.
Pour milk powder (mava), the ricotta cheese and the sugar to the cooked carrots.
In a frying pan heat the ghee, now add the carrot mixture and keep high flame until the carrot paste loses the milky texture and later turns into golden brown color.Make sure sugar has totally dissolved.
Add the raisins, cardamoms, powdered pistas and the almonds.
Heat through and serve either hot or cold with cream on the side.

Losing weight 2012

I know there are a ton of people planning on losing
weight in 2012. I want to share a few thoughts on it.

I am not an expert on weight loss. I am an expert on my own weight loss. I won’t claim to know what works for everyone else. I am writing this post to share what has worked for me. I hope that if you apply it in your own weight loss journey you will find it helpful.

I am going to share the number one key to any fat burning diet, weight loss program, diet or whatever you want to call it. If you look at the testimonials on TV the web or anywhere else, you will find successful people generally on any number of famous diet programs. The most irritating thing about those commercials, “anyone can do it.” Now I know there is truth in that statement, but we all know it is not that simple.

Expert on weight loss

Readers of my blog know that I push “Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle.” That is not the point of this post. There are many great diet programs out there. The program is not the key. In theory weight loss is very simple. Notice I said simple, not easy. Nearly all weight loss operates on the principle of a calorie deficit. If you create a calorie deficit you will lose weight. There are other techniques that will maximize fat loss, such as macronutrient profile, and exercising at the ideal time, six meals a day and on and on.

None of those are the key to successful weight loss. They are all important factors, but they are not the foundation. I hate to tell you this but without the proper foundation you will fail no matter how great the diet.

Most diets do not focus enough on this key foundation. That’s because these companies are there to make money. That’s what business is all about. As long as there are some successes for testimonials, they are fine with everyone else who yoyos. Maintenance customers are not as valuable.

For me I went to Weight Watchers the first time at about 13. I lost a great deal of weight and went on with my life. Within a couple years I was fat again. Since then I have revisited weight watchers 2 or 3 times, each time the same story. For me personally it always felt like a temporary pain that I had to go through and then when it was over I’d go directly back to my old ways.

In my opinion that is because of mindset. Mindset is the true key to losing weight and keeping it off. I’m not talking about that temporary motivation that sounds like “I’m going to lose weight in 2012.” You know the type that wears off by about February.

I’m talking about truly changing your mindset permanently. Stop thinking fat. Picture the new you. It sounds like some kind of fluff. That a weight loss guru spouts off to sell her latest crap book. I assure you it is not. Your mindset is the most important part. It is the foundation and the key to success in any diet program you choose.

You need to change your way of thinking in a major way. There will be plateaus, there will be gains. It is just the nature of the beast. These are the times when that mindset and the resolve that comes with it will be the only thing that can save you.

I’m sure many of you can remember those times when you worked hard all week. Ate right, did everything right only to get on the scale and see a gain. It’s like getting punched in the gut. Sometimes this can go on for weeks. The first and easiest reaction is to give up and say screw it. Here comes the yoyo.

This is the time to reach deep and count on your will to keep going. If you have laid that foundation properly you will be able to stay on track. You know that your goal is the only possible outcome.

I have been going through some doubts myself lately. I have lost about 120 pounds. Believe me it is getting more difficult. I don’t see those three or four pound weeks that I used to. However I know where this journey ends, so I will push on.

Things in life will get in your way too. That’s my problem lately I am an emotional eater. I recently resorted to that. I took a week or two and ate like a pig. I never lost focus on my goal. You see when you have the right mindset you can even take a minor detour here and there. I upped my exercise to compensate for my eating. After two weeks I am happy to report a gain of two or three pounds.

I just got off the scale and I have already lost the gain plus 2 pounds. You see that mindset turns roadblocks into speed bumps. You may slow down temporarily, but once you’re over it floor it and just like that you’re back on track and kicking fat in the ass once again.

This may sound like bullshit. I’m telling you it is not. I have been fat most of my life. In elementary school I had bigger boobs than the teachers. I have been up and down up and down over the years. I didn’t have the right mindset.

I’m not saying anyone can do it if I can. The truth is you probably won’t. That’s just the way it seems to be. If you let doubts linger you probably will fail. The mindset overpowers doubts. This shit is not easy.
