“Breaking Dawn” Spends Third Weekend Atop Box Office
Continuing to grasp ahold of the leading position, “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ still found itself perched atop the box office over the weekend of December 2-4, 2011.
The Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner starring vampire picture pulled in $5.5 million on Friday while expected to garner another $16.8 million during its third weekend of release.
Situated in the runner-up slot is the family friendly tale “The Muppets,” which scored $2.7 million on Friday while trending towards an approximate $11 million weekend take.
Rounding out the top five at the box office in estimated weekend totals were the highly-acclaimed Martin Scorsese film “Hugo” ($7 million), followed by the holiday tale “Arthur Christmas” ($7 million) and the Adam Sandler and Katie Holmes’ starring comedy “Jack and Jill” ($5.2 million).
