Pop the champagne, Plax is back

If you don’t love redemption stories, you’re a bitter, cold individual.

Plaxico Burress caught a touchdown pass last night in the Jets preseason 34-7 win against the Bengals. Yeah, I know it’s just preseason, but it’s still positive and worth celebrating.

If you’re one of those, “I don’t support ex-convicts”, I don’t support you. (You can leave now.)
Plaxico Burress’ return to the NFL after serving a two-year prison term for carrying an illegal firearm that discharged in his pants (not a euphemism.) in a New York nightclub.
How exciting it must have been for Plax and his family to start the season on such a bright note. And for those who’ve questioned if he still had the athletic ability after a stint in prison, there you have it.
Plaxico Burress is the real deal. He’s hungry. And the Jets will no doubt benefit with him lining up on the field.
I can only imagine the disappointment the New York Giants must be feeling right now. They needed this guy to be somewhat relevant in the NFC East and were outbid by their crosstown rivals.
In the same manner Michael Vick proved he changed, I’m rooting for this guy to finish his career with a few great years.
And why shouldn’t we? Would we not want the same for ourselves, friends, and family?
