Shia Islamic Calendar 2012
The Islamic Hijri calendar is purely lunar i.e. it depends on the moon’s cycle around earth. it has twelve lunar months;this was mentioned by the great prophet(SWT) in his last Pilgrimage at Ghadir-Khumm: “A year is twelve months, as at the time of Creation”.
Also in the Holy Quran, Sura IX, verse 36 reads: “Verily twelve months is the number of the months with Allah, according to Allah’s Book, ever since the day when He created Heavens and Earth.”
Since the average length of a lunar month is 29.53058 (solar)days, the hijri year will contain 29 or 30 days long months.. The total length of the Hijri year will be 354 days moving back 11 days for each solar year with a leap day accumulating about every three years.This means that the lunar cycle will repeat itself every 33 years. i.e the new moon falls in about the same time it occured 33 years ago.
Before Islam, the Arabs used to add a leap month to the lunar year every three years in order to stay in sync with the solar cycle.

Almost from the day she was conceived, there was news value attached to the dramatic announcement. Even if one overlooks the Madhur Bhandarkar-Heroine controversy, Baby B was deemed “hot” by the breathless media. It is to Aishwarya’s credit that she chose good sense and propriety over instant publicity and nonstop coverage by dropping out of sight for the first few months of her much-awaited, much-debated pregnancy. Perhaps it was natural caution, even superstition, that dictated Aishwarya’s decision. In retrospect, it was the way to go.
We love our desi traits — well, most of them. We believe in nazar and most expectant mothers lie low for the first five months of pregnancy, afraid of consequences that have a lot to do with the idea of someone’s “evil eye” falling on them. All this is true and understandable. What was harder to figure out was the exaggerated media interest in this particular case. It was as if viewers and readers could think of little else beyond Baby B’s sex and arrival date. At one point it became a national obsession with the equivalent of a countdown programme monitoring the progress of Aishwarya’s growing girth.
Several top actresses have taken maternity leave to go off and have their babies. Some have taken permanent leave after that and left movies for good. Others have waited for the kids to grow up a little before announcing a comeback. Two of them (Madhuri Dixit and Karisma Kapoor) are bravely in the running once again, and soldiering on, as they await their respective fates at a very cruel box office. Sridevi is the bravest of them all as she readies herself for her return to the big screen after years of being just a svelte mom to two daughters. Sonali Bendre and Raveena Tandon were never in the same league as the others, but they have sensibly settled for a different niche. Being a Bollywood goddess does come with certain caveats. It remains to be seen how Aishwarya’s career shapes up after the birth of her tiny bundle of joy.

Mical Jackson Doctor wants to new Testing
Just days before the scheduled sentencing of the doctor convicted of causing Michael Jackson’s death, a judge denied a request Monday to have an independent laboratory testthe contents of a key vial of evidence.
Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor said defense attorneys for Dr.Conrad Murray could have sought the testing months ago or even during the doctor’s six-week trial but chose not to.
Defense lawyer J. Michael Flanagan argued the results would reveal the accuracy of a theory by a prosecution expert who testified that Murray left Jackson’s bedside while the singer was on an IV drip of propofol and the painkiller lidocaine.
Deputy District Attorney David Walgren contended there was no legal basis for the testing and said Murray received a fair trial.
Pastor examined the propofol vial, which was found in the closet of Jackson’s bedroom, before issuing his ruling.
Flanagan said it didn’t occur to him that the contents of the vial should be tested until after the conclusion of Murray’s trial, which ended Nov. 7 with the conviction of the cardiologist on an involuntary manslaughter charge.
Flanagan said if prosecution expert Dr. Steven Shafer’s theory is correct, the small amount of liquid that remained in the vial should contain lidocaine. In that case, “that’s the ballgame” and would prove Murray did leave the singer alone on an IV drip, Flanagan said.
Flanagan also argued that Shafer didn’t tell jurors that he believed Murray injected lidocaine into the propofol vial until Shafer was called as a rebuttal witness in the final moments of testimony.
Walgren said Shafer and other witnesses acknowledged that they didn’t know exactly what happened in Jackson’s bedroom before the singer’s death on June 25, 2009. Shafer was one of several experts who told jurors that he could only theorize on events based on toxicology results, Murray’s statements to police and evidence found at the scene.
“Whether there was lidocaine in that bottle or not is completely irrelevant,” Walgren said.
Murray is set to be sentenced on Nov. 29.
Murray remains jailed and faces a possible sentence ranging from probation to up to four years.

Country music songstress Taylor Swift was the big winner on Sunday at the American Music Awards, walking away with three prizes including Artist of the Year.
Bieber, who was last year’s big winner at the AMAs, sang a tune from his Christmas-themed album “Under the Mistletoe,” but failed to win in the only category in which he was shortlisted, for best pop/rock male artist.
Other winners included Katy Perry, Beyonce and Nicki Minaj, who won both rap/hip-hop gongs up for grabs.
Adele won in three of the four categories in which she was nominated – but did not attend the show, in Los Angeles Nokia Theatre, as she is out of action after undergoing throat surgery.
But the big news of the night was Swift, who took all three prizes for which she was nominated – artist of the year, as well as best female artist and best album for “Speak Now” in the country music category.
Swift – who was named entertainer of the year at the Country Music Awards a few weeks ago, called her AMA triumph “one of the most amazing things that have ever happened to me.”
The 21-year-old from Pennsylvania is no stranger to music industry glory: she has son four Grammys, including album of the year last year for her second record “Fearless.”
Sharing success in the AMA country music category were fellow serial award winners Lady Antebellum, who won the prize last year and went on to become the big winners at this year’s Grammys.
In the soul/R&B category, best female artist went to Beyonce – who sent her thanks by video message from New York, as she is expecting her first baby, while Usher won best male artist.
Rihanna, who also sent her regards by message, won soul/R&B best album for “Loud.”
Nicki Minaj meanwhile beat Lil Wayne and Kanye West to win best rap/hip-hop artist, her first AMA – and then quickly won her second, for best rap/hip-hop album for “Pink Friday.”
Best new artist went to Hot Chelle Rae, who have already had a hit with “Tonight Tonight” On the Latin front, Jennifer Lopez took the top prize against a shortlist which also included Pitbull and Enrique Iglesias – and thanked everyone in English and Spanish.
Californian girl Katy Perry, who performed dressed in pink strumming a pink guitar, seemed surprise when given a special award, for the first artist to have five number one singles from the same album.
“Thanks for letting me be a chameleon this year,” said Perry, whose new single, “The one that got Away,” is a slower, more soulful number than big hits like “I Kissed A Girl” and “California Gurls.”

Indian won Kabaddi World Cup Men & women
Hosts India lifted the winners title in the men’s and women’s section of the second World Cup Kabaddi tournament in Ludhiana. The India men team easily beat the Canada side 59-25 in the final match played at the Guru Nanak Dev stadium in Ludhiana on late Sunday. India was the winner of the inaugural edition of the World Cup Kabaddi 2010 also.
Pakistan, which was the runners-up in the first edition of the Kabaddi tournament in 2010 and was expected to reach the finals this time also, finished third in the tournament. They beat Italy 60-22 in the match to decide the third position played here Sunday.
In the women’s section, hosts India won comfortably against the British women Kabaddi team. They beat their rivals 44-17.
The prizes were given away by Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal.
He announced that all players of the winning teams would be given government jobs.
The closing ceremony of the 20-day event was a glittering affair with several performances and fireworks display.
Actors Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone took to the stage to enthrall the audience.
Akshay Kumar drove into the stadium and the stage on a superbike. He later took a round of the stadium on a convertible Mercedes with Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.

Actress Demi Moore announced “with great sadness” Thursday the end of her high-profile marriage to Ashton Kutcher, after his reported infidelity with a woman less than half her age.
The confirmation comes after months of media reports about problems between the Hollywood power couple, who married in 2005 when she was 42 and he was 27.
She had earlier been married to actor Bruce Willis for 13 years.
“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton,” the 49-year-old said in a statement issued through her publicist.
“As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life.”
Thirty-three year-old Kutcher, who recently took over from troubled star Charlie Sheen in the hit TV series “Two and a Half Men,” tweeted a poignant message minutes after Moore’s announcement.
“I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and Light, AK,” he wrote.
As well as being a famous acting couple, Moore and Kutcher have both been pioneers of the use of social media, notably Twitter.
Moore, whose movies include “Ghost” (1990), “A Few Good Men” (1992), “Indecent Proposal” (1993) and “G.I. Jane” (1997), may have to get a new Twitter name: her current one is @mrskutcher.
She made no immediate comment on her Twitter feed — her usual method of sharing news, comment or other information — after announcing the split via her publicist.Rumors of trouble in the marriage flared in recent weeks after Kutcher reportedly had unprotected sex with a 22-year-old woman during a trip with friends to San Diego – allegedly on September 24, the night of his sixth wedding anniversary with Moore.
The blonde Texan, Sara Leal, said afterwards that Kutcher told her that he was no longer with Moore. “He said he was separated and it felt natural,” Leal told US magazine last month.
“He was good… It wasn’t weird or perverted,” she added, saying that their pillow talk involved politics, particularly the Republican candidates for president.
Earlier this year, Moore and Kutcher launched the Demi and Ashton Foundation aimed at ending child sex-slavery.
But signs of strain could be seen in September, when Moore posted a picture of a broken heart, and tweeted: “2day can U feel some1 else’s heart pain needs desires as U can feel your own? At the core we’re all reaching 4 the same.”
Kutcher answered with the post: “When you ASSUME to know that which you know nothing of you make an ASS out of U and ME,” according to People magazine, the celebrity bible.
Kutcher is best known for TV shows including “That 70s Show” and “Punk’d,” and this year replaced troubled actor Charlie Sheen in the popular comedy “Two and a Half Men.”
His big-screen roles have include “What Happens in Vegas” (2008) and this year’s sex comedy “No Strings Attached” with Natalie Portman.
Moore is also famous for a 1991 Vogue magazine front cover photo of her heavily pregnant with her daughter Scout LaRue, her second child with Willis after the pair married in 1987.
On Thursday Moore said she would now focus on rebuilding her life separately from Kutcher.
“She said This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation,”
